Stocking Stuffer Time with Victoria Secret, eos & COOLA!

Tis the Season! December 1st is right around the corner, and what does that mean? It means that if you have not already started shopping, then you better start now. So guess what I have for you? Here are a few items for you to put down for stocking stuffers! Whether it is for your wife, husband, friend, etc....these items should be written down!

Here is an item from a store we all know of. Victoria's Secret has the fragrance collection out called Angel. Be a Victoria's Secret Angel with their mist, lotion, or Eau De Parfum. Or to really show the love, get the gift set!

A next item on our stocking stuffer list is eos. "We know how you feel. We want lip balm whose feel and packaging makes us smile, shaving cream that leaves our legs smooth and moisturized, and natural body lotion that makes our skin oh-so-touchable." ~eos

If that does not catch your attention I do not know what does. Their holiday lip balm collection is perfect to go in a stocking for your loved one. Strawberry Sorbet, Sweet Mint and Passion Fruit Flavors! Want to know what is even better? Not only will your lips LOVE the attention this lip balm is giving them, but it is 100% all natural!

LOVE organic? Here is another item that is great to fill those stockings! COOLA Natural Body and Hand Lotion Bars are a must! This solid form consists of exotic natural butters, containing a blend of Shea butter and other natural oils and emollients to moisturize your skin, protect it and prevent it from drying! That is the last thing we want during winter. Even better, you can choose from four scents, or get them all! There is Grapefruit Peppermint, Orange Patchouli, Cucumber Melon, Lavender Chamomile, and an unscented bar.

Owl Hat Instructions From Sew Chic!

Chatting with Rachel Florio-Urso

If you have not heard of Celebrity Trend Expert, Rachel Florio-Urso, then you must read this fabulous interview.  I LOVE hearing about the hot new brands she represents! It always amazes me how hard she works and her focus on every little detail for each of her clients.

What inspired you to start your own public relations company?

I wanted to start a hip boutique firm in SOHO, NY that fit my style and experience. I wanted to use my business as a platform to pitch products and services to the consumers through many different media outlets. I eat, breathe and live public relations and integrated marketing.

It shows that you love what you do, but what would be the thing you love the most about your position?

If I can only choose one thing it would have to be the loyalty I receive from the media and my brands.

How long have you been a public relations superstar?

I have owned my firm for over a decade and hope to continue it for decades to come! I cannot imagine not doing what I love.

What do you LOVE about the Holidays?

Family, formal dining, decorating, holiday cheer and giving!

Do you favor Thanksgiving or Christmas, and why?

I think it’s important to give thanks and there is nothing better than turkey, stuffing and whipped potatoes, but I would have to say, Christmas! I love to make the kids happy by surprising them with the items on their list and it’s always nice to reminisce about my past childhood years.

What is a traditional dish that is made every year?

I recall my grandmother always serving the traditional rack of lamb with green mint jelly, but I make a spiral ham, lasagna and all of the typical traditional sides. My homemade apple pie is always a hit for dessert! My kids like to help me slice the apples and stir up the ingredients. We have a lot of fun! I am like June Cleaver in the kitchen! I think too many kids grow up not knowing how to boil water these days and I feel that’s a shame.

Do you prepare your holiday meals or someone else in the family?

I have been preparing the holiday meals for the past 18 years. Sometimes with the help of my mother or a guest who insists on bringing a side dish. We love my mother’s stuffing and my In-laws stuffed mushrooms so we welcome those! I truly feel like my holiday wouldn’t be the same if I didn’t take charge in the kitchen.

What colors are a must for you to use when decorating for Christmas?

I feel I have an old soul. I lean more toward the vintage-inspired shimmering silvers, robin’s egg blue tones and pale pinks. Years ago I was a “red and green” traditional decorator, but as my taste evolved and so many more beautiful ornaments and accessories have become reproduced it just felt right to transition. I feel my style for holiday is vintage chic.

As long as Bing and Sinatra are singing carols in the background, mini marshmallows are floating on top of the hot chocolate and the fire is crackling; Christmas time is as good as it is going to get!

Is decorating the tree a family event?

Oh, YES! the entire family gets together to help select the “perfect tree” for our home and then after my husband strings the lights we all start trimming the tree. After the kids go to bed, mom sneaks back downstairs to make some “minor adjustments”. I’m a bit of a perfectionist so I find myself occasionally moving ornaments.

How do you shop for your Christmas decor....Buy a little each and every year or all at once? Do you LOVE taking advantage of the after holiday sales?

I like to collect things over time and I like conversation pieces so like the art on my walls, the ornaments have been hand picked over time. We have a sailboat from Nantucket and a starfish from the Vineyard. We have icicles from a quaint shop in Connecticut and ornaments from small shops to high end stores in NYC. The “filler bulbs” that fill those big gaps in the tree are from my go-to store, Target!

Are you a shopper that loves to wake up early and hit the stores on Black Friday?

With all of the ridiculousness of the violence that follows the marketing of Black Friday, I rather take my time and make it to the store in my own time. I don’t feel it’s in the holiday spirit to act animalistic to others.

This year my college attending daughter asked me to take her shopping on Friday. We went, but at noon and only to a few stores. I really prefer to shop as a “last minute Sally” just to keep me pumped and in the spirit. I find myself wrapping at midnight on Christmas Eve which can be somewhat frustrating, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

What is one thing that is special to you each and every year for the holidays?

The smiles on my children’s faces, their laughter and our serving the homeless at a local shelter. After ten years of a routine trip to the shelter I know my children have a sense of pride and they will always feel good giving back.

Put this Secret Pocket Pillow on your Child's Christmas List

I do not know about your little ones, but my two little ones LOVE their pillows. I'm not talking about a regular standard sized pillow, but ones that are smaller and either have a very cool design, or a secret hiding spot inside of the pillow. So as you can see, the Secret Pocket Pillow is PERFECT for them!

You may have seen this pillow on t.v., but I really do love the quality. It is soft, and to make your life easier, you have four styles and colors to choose from. For your little girl you can get her the Florence Flower or Bella Butterfly. For your son choose either the Cody Car or Rocco Rocket which is in the picture above. Below I took a picture of the zipper that is on the back. I think it is a really neat idea. It is a secret but still easy enough for your child to find.

Yes, my little ones do try to bring all of their pillows everywhere we go. In addition to that, like to bring their cars or barbies. This pillow can carry those small items so everything is in one! They will think it is the neatest thing, I know I do! Are they heading to their Mom Mom's or Pop Pop's house to stay the night and you are trying to condense everything into one? Throw their toys into their pillow to give you less to carry.

Right now you can order a Secret Pocket Pillow for $19.95 + shipping and handling. Also, if you would like to buy more than one, you can save 15% off on each additional pillow. PLUS, for a limited time there is a hidden toy in each pillow! Perfect time to buy, and your little one will LOVE it!

The Dish on Cranberries

Sauce, Juice or Medicine?

Cranberries may be best known for being a side dish at Thanksgiving or as a thirst quenching juice but their potential health benefits may be their true value.  It’s little wonder that you will find cranberry extract in the Kiss My Face Cranberry Orange Lip Balm SPF 15.  The tiny red fruit is bursting with antioxidants that neutralize the free radicals that cause aging.  Cranberries are one of nature's most beneficial emollients and help your skin hold onto moisture.  They are also rich in vitamin C which helps with collagen production.  Native Americans were the first to use cranberries as food as well as wound medicine and as a dye calling the red berries Sassamanash and Ibimi — translated as bitter berried.

Naturally smoothes, soothes and     protects chapped lips with organic ingredients
Infused with a tasty cranberry     orange flavor
Organic     Beeswax softens the skin with     anti oxidant properties
Organic     Canola Oil acts as a moisturizing agent
Aloe     Vera heals and soothes the skin

LEGO Duplo Brings Mater!

Here is a product that is great to get for the holidays for your little ones. Lego Duplo!

"LEGO® DUPLO® preschool building toys are specially designed for the small hands and big imaginations of children aged 1½ - 5 years. DUPLO bricks are twice the size of standard LEGO bricks, making them a great way to kick off a child’s building career. DUPLO is all about giving your child the opportunity to build, create, and develop while discovering so many ways to play!"~LEGO

I LOVE these sets because they are still challenging your little one to create something on their own. However, the sets are easy enough for them to figure out what to build and achieve it. Their smiles will show you how proud they are once it is finished.

My son is a huge fan of Disney Cars, so of course he loves the Agent Mater Duplo Set. Your child can put together this set and then help Mater fire off the canon! Your child will love to take this apart and put it back together. With 5 stars, how could you refuse to pick this Duplo set up for your little one? I know I'm headed to the store to get more!

You can get a farm, a hospital, Winnie the Pooh and more sets that your child will LOVE! Make sure you get your hands on these and know your child will play with this over and over.

Meet Nicole from Little Trendstar and Formcode!

I reviewed a product from Little Trendstar a bit ago, and just fell in LOVE with their shirts for kids. Since then I have been tweeting with the owner, Nicole. Then it hit me! I wanted to share more about her and how she began her business. I also found out that she had another business! Read on about this busy Mommy and her fabulous companies, and I just LOVE those smiles from her little ones!

"Little Trendstar® is a brand dedicated to creating fashion-forward tees and onesies that demand a second look! We know kids love the spotlight, and we think their tees should be as fun and stage-worthy as their one-of-a-kind personality. Our designs are all about capturing attention by focusing on fashionably creative graphics and lots of style. Drawing from inspiration that includes style icons, music and sub-cultures, we create modern and stylistic tees that have enough flair to say "look at me"!

Little Trendstar® t-shirts and onesies are also produced with kids in mind! Each t-shirt and onesie is printed with non-toxic, water-based inks that contain no phthalates or PVC! They are also 100% cotton, Made in the USA and sweatshop free." ~Nicole

"Formcode was founded in 2000 Nicole Worth and her husband. A passion for art, design and architecture helps them approach every design challenge looking through the eyes of design. We see things not only in form and function but also in color, texture and dimension. Our work is our passion and we bring that to every project we work on. Formcode takes great pride in keeping designs fresh, edgy, original and innovative. We believe being a successful design company is more than just producing a website or brochure, it's creating a solution that is unique, visually stimulating and gives our clients something they can be excited about."~Nicole

How did you get started with each of your companies?

Both companies started differently and at separate times so I’m very lucky that both of them compliment each other. I use my experience and skill to help each of them and as I grow with one company, the other naturally benefits. For this, I am very thankful! The older of the two companies, Formcode, I started with my husband shortly after college. We were both working as designers for other companies, me as mainly a print designer and my husband as a web designer. When the company he worked for went out of business, his lack of a job became an opportunity for us to start are own business. Working together, we grew it and now 11 years later we are still going strong. We focus mainly on web design and pride ourselves on creating standout sites.

Little Trendstar® came later and using the knowledge and experience I acquired with owning Formcode, I was able to make an easy transition into another business. All the components that were needed to start Little Trendstar®, could easily be done ourselves. We built the website/online shop for the business and the connections we have from Formcode led us to a great photographer for the photoshoots. I focused on designing shirts and the marketing material and everything got rolling. I’ve been enjoying the ride ever since!

Did something or someone inspire you to start your own business?

It’s funny ever since I was young I have always said I wanted to own my own business. So I think it was just a matter of time before I set the wheels in motion! I always seem to have one eye open for opportunity and if I want something, I usually figure out a way to do/make it myself. So when certain inspirations came about in my life, namely my two sons for Little Trendstar®, I couldn’t help but start the business. Shopping for clothes for my first son made me realize how awful clothes can be for little boys- especially t-shirts! Everything is so one-note and mostly consists of loud, busy prints centered around trucks, animals or dinosaurs. Now I know these have their place, but I wanted something a lot more graphic and clean than that. I was always looking for a shirt that had bold, modern design that made statement or got noticed without being over-bearing and loud. So after a couple of years of constantly searching for cool shirts to dress him in, designing my own t-shirts was just a natural progression. I couldn’t find what I was looking for, so I decided to make it myself. I knew with Little Trendstar® that I would be able to fulfill the need to have the style of t-shirt’s I wanted for my son, and take my passion for design and fashion and create a business that would merge the two.

What do you LOVE the most about being your own boss?
Freedom! I have always gone a little against the grain and I love having the ability to choose what I want to do everyday and not have anything holding me back. There are no rules or restrictions, I can make my own destiny and get rewarded by my own success. I wake up everyday knowing that I am in charge of what I accomplish and that always motivates me to do more.

What is unique about each business?
Each business challenges me in a different way. They both encompass very different demographics and platforms. Little Trendstar® is about youth and making a bold statement on a very limited canvas. Whereas Formcode is about an unlimited canvas and I can be designing anything from corporate to funky and everything in between. The two businesses definitely keep my mind active and I am always looking for inspiration in both of them to help draw new and different approaches to each challenge.

What do you LOVE about Little Trendstar®?
I truly love creating t-shirts for kids. They are such a great demographic, they look great in everything and they have amazing spirit. You can dress them in the most imaginative design or funky look and they will just shine. This market allows me as a designer to really have fun with my designs and think more out of the box. With Little Trendstar®, I can create a t-shirt that you may have never have thought to do for fear that the end buyer couldn’t pull it off. With kids I never worry about that. The more creative the look the more attention they will get. And I’ve learned from my own two sons that kid’s LOVE attention!

Do you sell Little Trendstar® clothing anywhere else besides your online store?
Yes, I do. Currently it sells in a shop called Urban Baby Runway in Maryland, Truckermouth Clothing Company in California and Way TuTu Cute in Florida. I also just acquired a showroom in New York, so I’m hoping to get in a lot more stores come 2012.

What conferences and Expos have you been to? Which one is your favorite?
I have yet to enter the expo market. I attended ABC this year as a spectator just to get a feel for the scene. I considered it research and I took with it a lot of knowledge for when I do decide to do a show. If I were to choose one to do a first showing at, it would most like be ENK in New York. That show is a better fit for the brand. So we’ll see what next year brings.

I'm super thrilled I got the chance to interview such a fabulous business owner and Mom, Nicole. Thanks so much!

Jahgoo

Super excited to share this company, Jahgoo. Who is this and what do they sell you ask? Well, let's answer the who and then I will reveal the what.
"Jahgoo actually stands for something. When we created the products, of course we also needed a name. In our brainstorming sessions several references submerged. Specifically: When bathing your children, the bathroom turns into a jungle. Screaming monkeys and a lot of mess. The tub looks like a jacuzzi with bubbles and kids splashing water everywhere. Lastly, baby's first words sound like goo-goo. Well, throw jungle, jacuzzi and goo-goo into the blender and you get Jahgoo! Beyond Bathing: Designs for the modern parents, but products for baby's pleasure and comfort." ~Jahgoo

I LOVE the simplicity of the style and the design. It is very true. Sometimes when you buy a potty for your child they can be so large and take up so much room! I do not know about anyone else, but I just do not have that kind of room in my townhouse bathrooms. So, I thought what better way to show you the size of the potty then to use Mickey, my son's stuffed animal. Unfortunately, my son is not 3 and just way too big to use it.

If I still was potty training my little ones, this would be perfect! It does not get any easier. Your little one uses the potty, and you pull the middle part out, pour into the larger potty, and flush! Place the toilet seat back on the base and it is ready to go again. It is light and the best part, not bulky! It is ergonomically designed to fit both boys and girls.
