Holiday Recipes! Meet Angela

Starting today, I am going to introduce you to new people, that you may or may not know. It is time to plan and get ready for the holidays, and what better way than having everyone share their favorite recipes that they love to make! Each day we will bring you a new recipe; main dish, side dish, dessert.... and this holiday you can try something new when you sit down with your family and friends.

Meet Angela, a stay-at-home mother to a beautiful 10-year old girl. You can follow her blog, "This is Just Me and My Little World," where you can try new recipes that she shares, and pick up on some savings tips that she shares. She shares how she creates her own cleaning supplies to be green and save money. She is also an Air Force wife and in the Air Force Reserve. Currently, she is living on the East Coast and absolutely loves it. She likes to spend as much time as she can with her family, but if she does not mind reading a good book when she can, and she loves cooking; whether it is making a quick meal or creating her own recipe.

A new favorite recipe that Angela loves to make is Orange Potatoes. We are thrilled that she shared the recipe for everyone to enjoy!
Put all of your ingredients on the counter so you can get prepared. You need:
  • 1 large sweet potato
  • 5-6 regular potatoes
  • 3 strips of bacon (mmmmm LOVE bacon)
  • 2 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup warm milk

After you have the ingredients out, pre-heat the oven to 400. Angela then states how you want to pierce the sweet potato with a fork, and then wrap the sweet potato with the bacon strips. Wrap the sweet potato in foil, and bake for about an hour to an hour and a half.

While the sweet potato is baking, peel the regular potatoes and cut into chunks. After you take the sweet potato out of the oven, boil the regular potatoes in salted water until they are soft enough to mash. While the regular potatoes are boiling, the sweet potato can cool.

Unwrap the sweet potato and set the bacon to the side. Peel the sweet potato and cut into chunks. Mix both types of the potatoes together, add the butter and milk, and keep mixing until they are mashed. Cut the bacon into small pieces and add to the potatoes after they are all mashed. If you like you can add salt and pepper to taste.

Thank you Angela for sharing this delicious Orange Potatoes recipe! We hope everyone tries it, and we would love to hear from you! If you have a recipe that you would love to share with everyone, send it to us, chicstylemodern.@gmail.com
