Captain's Quarters in Myrtle Beach

School is starting and all I can think about is how I wish we could head back to the beach. For our family vacation this year, we went to Myrtle Beach. We thought we should find a vacation spot that was a bit more family friendly, and a resort that also believed in having a family-friendly experience.

We already planned to stay at the Captain's Quarters Resort, but I had the opportunity to get pushed up to one of their premier suites to include in our vacation spot. It was beautiful! Everything in the room was upgraded. There were granite countertops in the kitchen and the bathroom. The stone floor was a nice addition and really gave the room a luxurious look. The little decor touches like the mirror and the stylish lampshade and chairs also gave it a very modern twist. This was the nicest suite that my family has stayed in, and we would definitely return.

Why you ask? As nice as this room was, we did not stay inside all day long. In the resort alone there were so many things to do! This is a fabulous resort to stay in for a family. The Level 6 Bowling was awesome. My little ones never bowled before, and they loved it! You could also get get a meal and drinks there as well if you wanted to do a little dinner and have fun all at the same time. If your kids love arcade games, then they would love the Level 6 Arcade as well where they would have fun playing all of the games. There is of course several things to do in Myrtle Beach as well. You have a large selection of restaurants to choose from, and a tradition that we do in our family, miniature golf.

You could head to the 9th floor and visit the Vista Nine, which is a oceanfront restaurant. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to visit the restaurant. My husband has so many restaurants on his list already, we just could not fit it all in. The resort had several pools and hot tubs as well. My kids favorite was the Shipwreck Lagoon Waterpark. There are mushroom waterfalls, leaky cannons, and much more! There are several other pools both indoor and out to experience, as well as the lazy river. All of this too much for you? Go grab a drink at the Soggy Dollar Pool Bar. During the summer you are also able to watch Chief Kamu's Fire and Hula Show. This is amazing! You have to head down early though or it can be very difficult to grab a seat, especially during the 4th of July week.

We had a ton of fun. Other amenities included a laundry facility on site, and a fitness room. The staff was very helpful and came right away if there was anything needed in the room. We were steps away from the beach as well. I LOVE the beach, and I'm thrilled that my kids do as well. My husband and daughter were able to enjoy their boogie boards in the water while my son played in the sand. It was perfect!

The Captain's Quarters has amazing deals going on right now for the month of September. What is better than heading to the beach after your little ones gets out of school on Friday? Enjoy two fun-filled days at the Captain's Quarters and head back just in time for school. You can enjoy rates as low as $49 a night! That is an awesome price, and I cannot believe the rates are that low at such a great resort.

Momo and Gus; helping your child go to sleep.

Many kids have already started school.....for some parents the anxiety and relief as well is over. They are now happy that they have prepared and gotten everything ready for school, and their little ones are in their classrooms, and back to learning.
For me, that anxiety still exists. My daughter starts kindergarten on August 31st. For kindergarten, they do a staggered opening the first 3 days so that the teachers are able to give a little more time with each student when they first arrive. Did I already mention my daughter starts kindergarten?! Yes, I will probably be the one tearing all the way to school, since we do walk. I will have my sunglasses on, just so it is not completely obvious that I'm sobbing and drowning in my own tears. Hey, I know I'm not the only one like this!

On the other hand, there is a big change for us. We have to wake up earlier, and the little ones need to go to bed earlier. A routine will be added to our lives. So I was thrilled to be able to feature and review a kids alarm clock from BabyZoo. My daughter is in the habit where she will wake up in the middle of the night and sneak into our bed and go back to sleep. As much as I like to cuddle with my babies, I really need her to get a good night sleep for school.

Momo the monkey comes in two colors, and by pushing one button, the monkey will close it's eyes and will not open them again until the alarm clock tells it to. So your child will start to close his/her eyes once the monkey does, and this will teach them to close their eyes again in the middle of the night if they happen to wake up. I LOVE having hand soaps with a variety of smells. I'm definitely a lavender person myself, but also like to throw in a vanilla, lime or ginger aroma every now and then. Forecastors are calling for storms all day which means the best thing to do is to stay inside! The way the lightening has looked, I do not want to take one step outside. The pot has  a nonstick interior, and the locking strain and drain lid is my favorite feature of this pot! You can twist the lid to so it locks, and you do not have to worry abou your pasta pushing the lid off. Nothing wrong with having a little sparkle in your pot either.....can you notice it in the picture.

Meet Angie from The Country Chic Cottage!

Hello all Chic Style Modern Readers!!  I am Angie with The Country Chic Cottage!  My blog is all about creativity, crafts, vintage finds, and DIY -- all with a farmhouse flair!!  And one of my favorite pass times is to look at the eye candy on pinterest!  Finding farmhouse flair to add to your everyday life is easy with pictures.  Let's take a look at how to add that country farmhouse style to the table at your next gathering.  This first picture is what sparked my farmhouse table inspiration!  The doilies as a table runner is just amazing.  Add in the milk glass and aqua jars and you have a wonderful farmhouse table setting that anyone could pull off!

No doilies to use as a table runner??  How about adding burlap to your farmhouse table instead?  It gives great texture and the color can go with any other accessory you plan on using.  Just a simple strip of burlap looks lovely in a country table setting....

Maybe you don't have the cash to spend on pricey flowers for your get together?  Wildflowers can make a big impact on your table!  Colors can be different yet compliment one another.  Jars, bottles, and glasses can all become impromptu vases for your gathering.

Of course, eliminating the flowers all together is always an option.  Greenery adds a touch of nature to this tablescape.  And the candle lanterns will make this a lovely night gathering!  Simple, elegant, and yet rustic...

Speaking of night gatherings, I love the idea of candles!  A large group of candles in old bottles is the icing on the cake!  Simple and elegant but with a farmhouse spin!

Mason jars can be found in quite a few of these examples.  They might be the well dressed farmhouse table staple!  Add some twine to the bottom of your mason jars for a spin on the classic look...

A well dressed table deserves a great focal point above it!  This twig chandelier would be inexpensive and easy to recreate.  Plus it adds a rustic touch to this gorgeous tablescape!

Another touch of rustic elegance would be some hanging mason jars!  Gorgeous with the addition of candles!  Personnally, I adore the runner in this picture as well.  A classic grain sack stripe makes a wonderful farm table addition!

My daughter is my little princess. Recently she turned 5 and she wanted everything to be princess. Well, she has been a princess for a few years now. "Working from home can be hard, I try to stick to a schedule and also give my sell breaks so that I don’t get burnt out and so that I can enjoy spending time with family and friends!  I spend my days and sometimes nights going from my craft area to my computer again and again!"

"I usually like to work in the morning, when I have a fresh start and a clear head."
